Chicago Bulls basketball star Derrick Rose broke his hand during the Cubs vs. Cardinals game Sunday night, the opening night for the Major League Baseball (MLB) season.
Rose is expected to miss 3-4 months from the bone fracture after attempting to catch a foul ball in the grandstand. He was immediately sent to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and received x-rays which showed several several broken bones according to CSNChicago.
While missing the Cubs’ 3 – 0 loss to St. Louis, Rose said his knee felt good. “We had good seats,” said Rose. “The ball was hit up high in the air. I reached up and felt it hitting my palm. I guess it’s broke now.”
“My hand will be 100% for next year’s playoffs. I can’t comment on any other body part. ”
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said in future games Rose will wear baseball gloves on both hands. “Better yet, he can sit in a private box where his only concern is catching food poisoning. ”
There Is Always Next Year
With the Cubs losing and going for 0 for 38 with men on base, many Wrigley faithful were too drunk to care or notice.
Chicago super sports fan Chris Belushi told the Chicago Tribune, “Why couldn’t it have been Cutler? Why God, why?” Jay Cutler, the Chicago Bears quarterback did not attend the game.
“A hockey player could catch the ball with his mouth and play the next shift, ” said John Wilson. “But it’s a basketball player. ”
“The curse of the Cubs continues as the Bulls and Blackhawks begin their playoff runs.”
